Ingredients

  • 5 oz red wine
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate juice
  • 1 tbsp brandy
  • 1 tbsp pomegranate arils
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 orange slice
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick (3 inches long)
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 cardamom pods

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine red wine, pomegranate juice, brandy, pomegranate arils, sugar, and orange slice.
  2. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Wrap the cinnamon stick, cloves, and cardamom pods in a piece of cheesecloth and tie it closed with butcher's twine.
  4. Place the spice bundle into the pot and stir the mixture.
  5. Continue heating over medium-low heat but do not bring it to a boil.
  6. Serve warm after approximately 30 minutes. The longer the spice bundle sits in the wine, the richer the flavor will be.
