Ingredients
- 1/4 orange, fresh
- 3-4 thin slices fresh ginger
- 1 bottle or can (16 oz) beer
- 4 cloves
- 1 small cinnamon stick (optional)
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Pinch of ground cinnamon, for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions
- Wash the orange thoroughly and cut it into quarters. Set aside 2-3 thin slices for garnish.
- Peel a small piece of ginger and cut 3-4 thin slices.
- In a cooking pot, pour the beer and add cloves, cinnamon stick, and honey. Squeeze the orange juice into the pot and add the remaining squeezed part of the orange.
- Heat the mixture on low heat, allowing the spices to release their flavors without boiling.
- Whisk the egg yolks with sugar in a small bowl until thick and fluffy. Add hot beer from the pot and continue whisking. Return everything to the pot and stir until the mixture thickens, cooking without bringing it to a boil.
- Strain the beer and pour into heat-resistant glasses or cups.
- Garnish with the saved orange slices, lightly sprinkle with ground cinnamon, and serve.
