Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 medium cantaloupe
  • 1 1/2 oz. tequila
  • 1/2 oz. triple sec
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring sugar, water, and lime juice to a boil over high heat.
  2. Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture thickens.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a heat-proof bowl or jar and allow it to cool completely.
  4. Chop the cantaloupe into large chunks and blend until smooth, yielding about 3/4 cup of cantaloupe puree.
  5. Mix sea salt and cayenne pepper on a small plate, then brush a little simple syrup on the rim of the glass and coat the rim in the mixture.
  6. In a shaker filled with ice, add 3/4 cup cantaloupe puree, 1/2 oz. lime simple syrup, 1 1/2 oz. tequila, and 1/2 oz. triple sec. Shake well.
  7. Pour the mixture into an ice-filled glass and enjoy!
