Spiced Persimmon Sparkler
A delightful twist on the classic Old Fashioned, this Spiced Persimmon Old Fashioned features ripe persimmons, warm spices, bourbon, and a splash of sparkling water for a refreshing twist.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe Fuyu persimmons
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/4 tsp fresh grated ginger (or a pinch of ground ginger)
- 2 oz bourbon
- Juice from half a lemon
- Juice from half an orange
- Dash of orange bitters
- 2 tbsp Spiced Persimmon Puree
- Sparkling water
Instructions
- In a small pot over medium heat, combine the persimmons, maple syrup, water, ginger, and cinnamon stick.
- Bring to a boil and cook for 6-8 minutes or until the persimmons have softened, then remove from heat.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and puree the ingredients. Allow to cool before canning or using in another recipe. Properly stored, the puree can keep in the fridge for a week.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the bourbon, lemon juice, orange juice, orange bitters, and Spiced Persimmon Puree.
- Shake to combine and strain into a glass.
- Top with sparkling water and garnish with a cinnamon stick. Enjoy!
