Purple Basil Smash
A fruity and refreshing cocktail with Prairie Organic Gin, ginger-basil syrup, elderflower liqueur, and muddled blackberries, the Purple Basil Smash is the perfect blend of sweetness and herbal freshness.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces Prairie Organic Gin
- 1/4 cup blackberries, plus extra for garnish
- 3 fresh basil leaves, plus whole sprigs for garnish
- 1 ounce ginger-basil syrup
- 1 ounce elderflower liqueur
- 1 ounce lemon juice
- Ice
- 2 ounces soda water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 sprigs fresh basil
- 1 (2-inch) piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- In a rocks glass, muddle the blackberries and basil leaves with the ginger-basil syrup until the berries are coarsely mashed.
- Add the elderflower liqueur and lemon juice, followed by the Prairie Organic Gin.
- Fill the glass with ice and stir to chill.
- Top with soda water.
- Garnish with blackberries and a basil sprig, then serve.
- For the ginger-basil syrup, combine sugar, basil, ginger, and water in a saucepan. Simmer until the sugar dissolves, then cool and strain.
