Ingredients
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ounces 100 proof bourbon
- 1/2 ounce amaretto
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream (whipped)
- 1/4 cup half and half
- Optional: additional bourbon to taste
- Garnish: freshly grated nutmeg and cinnamon stick
Instructions
- In a bowl, beat the egg yolk until it lightens in color.
- Add the sugar to the egg yolk and mix until thickened.
- Stir in the vanilla and nutmeg.
- Gradually add the bourbon and amaretto while mixing.
- Transfer the mixture to a glass jar or container and refrigerate for at least 24 hours, preferably longer.
- Gently fold in the whipped cream and half and half.
- Store the eggnog in the fridge until ready to serve. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.
