Ingredients

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ounces 100 proof bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce amaretto
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream (whipped)
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • Optional: additional bourbon to taste
  • Garnish: freshly grated nutmeg and cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, beat the egg yolk until it lightens in color.
  2. Add the sugar to the egg yolk and mix until thickened.
  3. Stir in the vanilla and nutmeg.
  4. Gradually add the bourbon and amaretto while mixing.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a glass jar or container and refrigerate for at least 24 hours, preferably longer.
  6. Gently fold in the whipped cream and half and half.
  7. Store the eggnog in the fridge until ready to serve. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.
